Mariah Perez is currently a stay-at-home mom and spends the majority of her days chasing a toddler. She spends her spare time reading novels, gardening, baking, and volunteering. Previously, she worked as a molecular technician at Florida Women's Care Laboratory where her main role was to execute molecular (various STI's, COVID) testing and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT).
Her volunteer work involves a local Facebook page called Free4All 2.0 in which she serves as an administrator. Her role includes ensuring members adhere to the standards and safety requirements while also, keeping the page up-to-date. Free4All 2.0 serves the local community of Bellevue and surrounding areas as a platform for members to freely donate and receive items, food, or services.
Mariah received a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry and a minor in psychology at Indiana University-Bloomington, achieving highest distinction and departmental honors. Mariah did utilize her degree knowledge in academic and clinical based laboratories. However, her spouse joined the military. As you can imagine, she began moving more frequently! In order to keep up with the new challenges of military life, she pursued a degree in data science.
Mariah recently received a Master of Science degree in data science at Eastern University, achieving a 4.0 GPA. To further industry knowledge, Mariah is also pursuing online courses for other programs and languages.
Mariah is open to data science related work (any industry) in the greater Omaha area or full-remote.
A machine learning project using data from a Portuguese school system to predict student's final grades in a specific course (math).
A video presentation exploring the ethical concerns of the company, 23andMe regarding various data science related topics (such as data collection, consent, security, and impact).
An extensive project on breast cancer diagnosis in which three distinct datasets were anyalyzed and modeled. Modeling ranged in complexity from logrithmic regression to image detection via convoluted neural networks.
